It is also known as the Castle of the Constable Dávalos or the "Triste Condesa".
Built between 1395 and 1423 by order of the nobleman Ruy López Dávalos, it boasts a Gothic style with a square floor plan and round towers at the corners.
In addition, the castle of Arenas has a keep which, after a refurbishment, now serves as a museum and exhibition centre.
